MobileEdition Progress Report: New Features, Top Tiered Bloggers, Release Timeline

Comments Off

MobileEditionToday we’re making a few announcements in regards to MobileEdition.

Again, MobileEdition is a unique new tool for bloggers, it provides an easy way to get your blog on the App Store for iPhone and iPod touch. This ensures readers don’t have to make compromises, and can easily chose between the desktop experience (inside Safari) and a mobile-formatted experience (on the App Store).

First, MobileEdition has been a huge success already. We’ve already signed up the equivalent of over 1% of the current App Store lineup. We’re constantly getting new sign ups, and we encourage you to keep signing up.

When we announced MobileEdition, we said we were starting with WordPress as our first CMS. And, we said at the time that we would be expanding support to other systems in the near future. Today we’re adding support for a special type of system; the top-tiered blogger.

Using some advanced technology, we’re expanding MobileEdition to support top-tier bloggers on any platform. This system requires a lot of resources today, so we can’t yet make it available to everyone (but we are working on that). So, if your blog gets more than 100,000 viewers (human beings) tuning in per month, we’re ready to get your blog on the App Store… today. No waiting list required.

You can sign up for MobileEdition for Top Tiered Bloggers by clicking here

And, for top-tiered bloggers, we’re going to have some additional features, giving you a customized App Store experience. We’ll be using this feedback to enhance the mainstream MobileEdition product as well.

The most frequently asked question about MobileEdition is “When will my blog appear on the App Store?” And, we can provide you with a bit of a timeframe for that today as well.

Introducing PhoneNews.com Cashback

Comments Off

Making good on our commitment to launch one more new site in 2008, on December 31 we launched PhoneNews.com Cashback. While we originally intended to launch it on its own, as a standalone web site, we felt it would be best to offer it as a part of PhoneNews.com.

PhoneNews.com Cashback is all about giving the consumer just a little extra back when they buy a new cell phone. Offering discounts on prepaid and regular phones alike, the site allows people to get some phones (even prepaid phones) absolutely free, with no strings attached. All a customer has to do is visit PhoneNews.com Cashback, click through to the carrier’s wireless store, and then email us a copy of their receipt. Cashback usually is sent out a week later, via PayPal.

To kick off PhoneNews.com Cashback, we’ve also launched the 2009 PhoneNews.com Free Prepaid Phone Challenge. Until the end of Feburary, users can get a prepaid phone absolutely free, after cashback. If 10,000 orders come in by the end of February, PhoneNews.com will go advertising-free for the rest of 2009. Get a free phone, and help PhoneNews.com go ad-free.

So, what did we do this year?

Comments Off

Good question!

In June, MechaWorks was born. Using PhoneNews.com as a starting point, we’ve made a few products, and started work on a few more. First, we created MobileWiki, an excellent B2B wiki solution that’s faster, more reliable, and cheaper than the competition.

Next, we launched CheapenGadget.com and AnimeNews.biz, both sites which are quickly picking up speed in a tough economy to launch, hire, and manage new ventures in. But, since we haven’t before, we want to thank everyone that has tuned in, we’re hard at work on growing both sites every day.

Right now, we’re hard at work on a new site, launching next week. It’s still under wraps, but it’s a natural extension of what we’re already doing.

What else are we working on? MechaWorks is expanding out into new software development, and while we aren’t ready to start talking about that, we do have a lot of great ideas that are already headed off the drawing board, and into development. We expect 2009 to be a huge year for us in software development.

One More New Site

Comments Off

Yes, there will be one more new site launching this year. We had planned to stick with our three primary sites (PhoneNews.com, CheapenGadget.com, and AnimeNews.biz). However, we just felt that one more site would really help us ring in the new year.

So, stay tuned, we’re already hard at work on it.

Introducing CheapenGadget.com & AnimeNews.biz

Comments Off

Today, we’re launching two new web sites. This is the first tangible step that most will notice from MechaWorks (for most of you, we’ve been PhoneNews.com-with-a-parent-company). Today, that changes.

CheapenGadget.com is a new kind of deal site. Yes, you probably already have some favorite places to check deals… but we’re aiming to stand out and change things.

First, our deal site has standards… we don’t care if we profit from a deal, and we will only deliver you the very best deals out there. We’re aiming to be the digest version of just the best deals out there on gadgets… and everything that plugs into those gadgets.

AnimeNews.biz is our introduction into the anime industry. We looked at the news coverage of the anime sector… and it just seemed like there were monopolies on it left and right. We’ve heard your complaints about confusing structure, lack of deals, and too many ads. We’re here to change all of that.

So, check them out, be sure to sign up for our RSS feeds… and stay tuned, we’re just getting started.

We’re Hiring: Deal News Reporter

Comments Off

We’re looking for reporters in the field of deal news. Do you browse all the deal discussion forums on the web. Do you do it daily?

Do you know when the Xbox 360 is going to drop in price… weeks before it actually does? Can you spot a good DSLR deal, from a bad one? Does everyone turn to you to point out the good deals on Black Friday?

Yeah, we want to pay you for doing that. But, we do need a few other qualifications. First, you need excellent writing skills. Two, you need to be able to write articles at least four days a week. But, if you can do that… you can earn money for knowing about the best deals on the web.

Want to get started? Get in touch with us.
