First Significant iConsole Update Released

We’re pushing out the first significant update to iConsole for HTPC. Alpha 1v3 adds in automatic detection of critical security updates, issued upstream for the Linux core operating system. It also should fix issues a few users were reporting with difficulties installing NVIDIA and AMD graphics enablers (see the Release Notes for the simple steps there).

The Support Wiki will be updated with a how-to for upgrading if you have a previous Alpha 1 release. This release is significantly larger, 794 MB, and we’re updating all the notices to reflect that. While our goal is always to be smaller than a 700 MB CD-R, we felt these changes were important enough to get out the door as quickly as possible.

To download Alpha 1v3, just go to iConsole.vg and click the big red download button.

We expect (hope) this is the final release is in the Alpha 1 branch. Alpha 2 work is getting underway, and will include new features, and major improvements to the iConsole interface.
